French vibes
Juliette is informal and cosy, the menu is French brasserie style. French classics such as Chevre Chaud, Tartar and Croquess – still influenced by the local ingredients such as fresh fish of the season.
The Burger Teriyaki will for sure silence the hungy surfer.
Fresh fish
Hawgus means fog rolling in from the ocean. Fish freshly caught and bought at fish auction in Hanstholm and perfect braised. The menu should please all different tastes – pasta, pizzas and meat. Still our favorite is the fresh caught fish. Even in deep winter the restaurant is open.
Wildest view
On the brink of the National Park lies Hanstholm Madbar almost surrounded by the sea. Forget all about gourmet and fine dining, but instead expect a relaxed atmosphere, humor, joy and fresh forward hospitality and a menu meant for sharing.
Hanstholm Madbar is a small place where you sit close – the intimate and light atmosphere will make room for stories, laughter and fun. Open all year.
Best cofee in town
Håndpluk means picked by hand. That’s what all the items are – beer, cheese, sodas, tapas and very delicious sandwiches everything on the blackboard chosen because it’s special and tasty. The owner is behind the bar and he has in dept knowledge of the products – just ask. Also open during winter.
Sourdough bread and sandwiches
The Rusty Elephant is one of several micro-bakeries in Thy that specializes in sourdough bread. The traditional bakers closed on a row and Nadja and Patrick saw an opportunity to start baking bred with sourdough – thank you so much – we love this bread and we don’t think there can be any butter left in Thy when baking croissants and pain au chocolate. Their bread is rich in local ingredients and so tasty.
One Star Agger
Michelin One Star restaurant Tri. Honestly we have never been there, building the Kokkolithouse didn’t leave any space in our budget, but this is on our bucket list. We take the liberty to quote the Michelin guide “In a small coastal town by the North Sea you’ll find this contemporary greenhouse-like building. Made from wood and glass, it is a bright and airy space that is filled with customers enjoying quality cooking. Chef Nicolas Min Jørgensen has created a menu themed around seasonal and local product, which is used with a nose-to-tail, low waste ethos. Dishes provide pure, natural flavours and are prepared with care and precision.”
Greenies
70 meters from our house, at the corner of Bavnbak and Kalles Mark you will find greens of the season. Grøn Thy focus on the gentle cultivation and processing of sustainable, unsprayed vegetables, berries and fruits of the highest quality. Selling to Tri in Agger must be a high quality stamp.
Free-ranging pigs
In the heart of Thy and close to national park Thy lies Kraghøjgård. An organic farm, 125 hectares and with its own farm shop. Farm shop sells, among other things meat from own breeding
Fresh fish
If you want locally and freshly caught fish, you should stop by Fiskecompagniet’s Detailsalg. Vorupør best location on the Vesterhavs waterfront in Vorupør. Behind the blue doors and windows, you will find a fish shop packed with freshly caught fish, shellfish, mussels and lobster. Don’t miss out on the readymade fish meatballs – perfect lunch to go and even glutenfree.
Pick or buy
Family farm Frilandsgrønt with vegetable production, where freshness, quality and proximity are important keywords. In the summer, it is open for self-picking of strawberries and peas – great fun for children.
